Recent research by AI career hub Kickresume indicates that today's graduates encounter significant challenges in the job market. A survey of over 1,000 graduates revealed that fresh graduates are less likely to have secured a full-time job by graduation than those from previous years. Only 12% of recent graduates found a job before graduation, compared to 39% of earlier graduates. Furthermore, the rise of social media, particularly LinkedIn, has become a critical job-seeking tool, with 57% of fresh graduates utilizing it. The struggle with CV preparation remains a common challenge across both groups, with many still seeking employment post-graduation.
39% of the group of graduates with at least a year's experience secured their job before they finished their studies. This is only the case for 12% of today's graduates, making them nearly three times less likely to have found a job before graduation.
While only 7% of earlier graduates were using social media like Instagram, TikTok and Facebook groups to look for work, 29% of fresh graduates were using this strategy.
Both groups say CVs are the area of job hunting they struggle with most, highlighting a significant commonality despite the differences in experience.
58% of fresh graduates said they were still searching for a job after graduation, compared to 25% of earlier graduates, showing increased job market challenges.
