""Taken together, these findings reinforce a clear message for policymakers, educators and workforce leaders: Employers still see higher education as a core driver of job success and talent competitiveness, even amid broader concerns about the ROI of a college degree.""
""Yet employers' optimism about the value of degrees sits alongside persistent concerns about skills and readiness.""
A survey of 2,000 U.S. employers reveals that while 76% prefer candidates with four-year degrees, only 54% believe graduates possess necessary skills. Despite 23% of employers removing degree requirements, many still require additional training for new hires. Specifically, 20% of graduates need a little extra training, 49% need a moderate amount, and 20% need a great deal. The findings indicate a disconnect between degree attainment and job readiness, highlighting the need for improved alignment between education and workforce demands.
