How U.S. Employers Can Meet the Healthcare Needs of Younger Workers
"Millennial and Gen Z employees-people in their 20s to mid-40s-have unique healthcare needs, and they're demanding more from business and health system leaders like us."
"Maria Ansari , MD, is CEO and executive director of the Permanente Medical Group, president and CEO of Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, CEO of Northwest Permanente, and co-CEO of the Permanente Federation."
"Ramin Davidoff , MD, is executive medical director and board chair of the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, board chair and CEO of the Southeast Permanente Medical Group, board chair and CEO of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, and co-CEO of the Permanente Federation."
Millennial and Gen Z employees are people in their 20s to mid-40s. These cohorts have unique healthcare needs that differ from other age groups. They are asserting higher expectations and are demanding more from business and health system leaders. Employers and health systems are being called upon to respond to evolving preferences, access requirements, and benefit expectations among younger workers. Recognition of these demographic-driven needs should inform benefits design, care delivery, and organizational strategies to better align services with the priorities and expectations of younger employee populations.
