Homeless man wins $2.4-million wrongful termination lawsuit but he's nowhere to be found
Briefly

Daniel Ridge recently won a $2.4 million wrongful termination lawsuit against Alameda Health System, his former employer. However, he was unfit to attend the court proceedings due to his deteriorating mental health and subsequently became homeless, losing contact with his family. His lawyers are struggling to locate him as he is among the many unhoused individuals in Oakland. The challenges of locating homeless individuals, including privacy protections, exacerbate the difficulty in reconnecting him with his loved ones.
"There are so many unwell and unhoused people that live in large pockets. Finding him will require a tremendous effort," said Lawrance A. Bohm, attorney for Ridge.
"I've seen many times people searching for loved ones. But there's protections for people and their identity, so it's a challenge when people get lost in the system," remarked Donald Whitehead.
