The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday allowed Idaho's abortion ban to go into effect, for now, and agreed to hear an appeal in the case, scheduling arguments for April.
Idaho has been a leader of state efforts to criminalize abortion. Its 'Defense of Life Act' would make it a crime for 'every person who performs or attempts to perform an abortion,' even when the woman's health is greatly endangered.
