A poll of 1,000 women revealed half notice their first silver strand by their early 30s, most commonly between ages 31 to 35.
Over half of women reported worrying about aging upon finding grey hairs, with 36 percent feeling less confident in their appearance.
Eva Proudman stated, 'The failing of melanocytes...is the main factor that causes hair to appear grey. Prolonged emotional stress can exacerbate the greying process but generally isn't the main cause.'
The findings coincide with the release of Schwarzkopf Oleo Intense hair dye that helps cover greys, while recommending a lighter shade for blending.
