More than 165K pounds of ground beef recalled due to possible E. coli contamination

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Wolverine Packing Co. recalled approximately 167,277 pounds of ground beef due to potential E. coli contamination, discovered through illness reports.
FSIS determined that there was a link between the ground beef products from Wolverine Packing Co. and the illness cluster, triggered by notifications from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
A sample collected by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture tested positive for E. coli O157 during an outbreak investigation, with 15 cases reported.
The FSIS has cautioned restaurants to check their freezers for potentially contaminated products, urging them to dispose of or return any recalled beef.
