Public health authorities urge Americans to check their fridges and freezers due to a recall of over 11 million pounds of meat and poultry for possible listeria contamination.
The Oklahoma-based company BrucePac has recalled 11,765,285 pounds of meat and poultry shipped nationwide. The FSIS detected listeria during routine testing.
Listeria can cause serious infections, especially in pregnant individuals, those over 65, or with weakened immune systems. No confirmed adverse reactions have been reported.
The recall includes various ready-made meals from popular brands like Fresh Express and Boston Market, sold at many major grocery chains across the U.S.
