From remote regions of Antarctica to human hearts, microplastics are everywhere. This study is the first to show a connection between microplastics in the human body and health impacts.
Electron microscopy revealed visible, jagged-edged foreign particles among plaque macrophages, confirming the presence of microplastics in the artery-clogging plaque.
