The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has released a preliminary list of over 200 schools that received recalled meat and poultry products due to Listeria contamination.
BrucePac, the producer of the contaminated products, confirmed no reported illnesses, even as the recall expands to almost 12 million pounds nationwide.
The USDA indicated that routine testing revealed the Listeria contamination, yet these products were not part of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
Listeria infection poses serious health risks, including severe symptoms and potential complications like miscarriages in pregnant women and risks for individuals with weak immune systems.
