McDonald's and Boar's Head outbreaks may have you worried. Experts say the food supply is safe

"The U.S. food supply remains one of the safest in the world," FDA officials said in a statement.
"These are products that people eat on a regular basis," she said, referring to high-profile recalls affecting a lot of people.
"I don't think the food supply is getting less safe," said Donald Schaffner, a food science expert at Rutgers University.
On average, the two federal agencies that oversee the U.S. food supply announce more than 300 food recalls and alerts each year.
