Many call loneliness a public health threat. New research now links it to early-onset dementia

Increased risk of [early-onset dementia] was associated with low socioeconomic status, apolipoprotein E status, alcohol use disorder, social isolation, vitamin D deficiency, high C-reactive protein levels, hearing impairment, orthostatic hypotension, stroke, diabetes, heart disease, and depression, wrote the authors.
Prior to the study, that was a conclusion scientists had reached only about elderly people at risk for dementia and Alzheimer's.
