Listeria recall grows to 12M pounds of meat, poultry; some sent to US schools
Briefly

A nationwide recall of nearly 12 million pounds of meat and poultry products contaminated with listeria has expanded, affecting meals sent to schools and restaurants.
The USDA found potentially dangerous listeria bacteria in BrucePac chicken, affecting ready-to-eat products sold at major retailers such as Costco and Trader Joe's.
Since potentially contaminated foods produced between May 31 and Oct. 8 are now subject to recall, consumers should check for establishment number '51205 or P-51205'.
Listeria infections, caused by contaminated food, can lead to severe illness. Annually in the U.S., 1,600 people are infected, with approximately 260 fatalities.
