Israel kills more than 70 in Gaza, including 16 in bombing family building
Briefly

On the second day of Eid al-Adha, Israeli airstrikes targeted a residential building in Gaza City, killing at least 16 individuals, including women and children. Rescuers are racing against time to find survivors, with reports indicating that approximately 85 people are trapped under debris. This assault, deemed a full-fledged massacre by local authorities, is part of a larger pattern of violence in the region where at least 75 Palestinians have died in recent Israeli operations. The military claimed the strikes were aimed at militants involved in past attacks on Israel.
"This is truly a full-fledged massacre, a building full of civilians. Approximately 85 people were believed to be trapped under the rubble," stated Mahmoud Basel, Palestinian Civil Defence spokesperson.
"We woke up to the strikes, destruction, yelling, rocks hitting us. Instead of waking up to cheer our children and dress them up to enjoy Eid, we wake up to carry women and children's bodies from under rubble," noted displaced Palestinian Hamed Keheel.
Local resident Hassan Alkhor expressed his grief saying, 'May God hold the Israeli forces and [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu accountable' after the deadly raid.
Hamas confirmed the killing of Asaad Abu Sharia and his brother Ahmed, describing the attacks as part of a series of brutal massacres against civilians.
