Why Mattel's Blind Barbie design really matters
Briefly

Working closely with the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB), Mattel ensures accurate representation with a cane, functional sunglasses, tactile clothing, and easy-to-fasten accessories for a positive play experience for children with vision loss.
Barbie's design includes articulated elbows for cane use, altered eye gaze, and braille packaging, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and accurately representing individuals with blindness.
"We recognize that Barbie is much more than just a doll; she represents self-expression and can create a sense of belonging," says Krista Berger, Senior Vice President of Barbie and Global Head of Dolls.
