Otega Oweh led Kentucky to a thrilling 85-84 victory over his former team, Oklahoma, with a dramatic jumper with just 0.5 seconds remaining. This win marked Kentucky's third consecutive victory, propelling them into the Southeastern Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Despite facing jeers from Oklahoma's fans, Oweh's performance, which included 27 points, was pivotal. Teammates Koby Brea and Andrew Carr contributed significantly as well. The Sooners, led by Jeremiah Fears with 28 points, momentarily took the lead late, but Oweh's clutch play secured Kentucky's progression in the tournament.
Oweh, who was the second-leading scorer on Oklahoma last season before transferring to Kentucky, drained a baseline jumper with 0.5 seconds left to lift the No. 15 Wildcats past the Sooners 85-84.
Oweh said after Thursday's win, "I'm just trying to hoop. It's not really the team. Although, it feels good, for sure."
Koby Brea added 22 and Andrew Carr 11 for Kentucky, which led by 10 with 1:20 left. The Sooners went on a furious rally, however.
Jeremiah Fears scored 28 points to lead Oklahoma, but Oweh's late game-winning shot secured Kentucky's advancement in the SEC Tournament.
