The Golden State Warriors are breaking new ground as the first NBA team to establish a record label, Golden State Entertainment. They have recently launched an album titled "For the Soil," featuring prominent Bay Area artists. This initiative blends sports with music and aims to expand the team’s cultural footprint. P-Lo, a rapper involved in the project, emphasized the importance of innovation in this approach. With the album's release coinciding with NBA All-Star Game weekend, the Warriors are strategically enhancing their engagement with fans and the broader music community.
"A basketball team with a record label is unheard of until now, which is a testament to the Warriors and the Bay," said P-Lo, a Filipino-American rapper.
"This is about innovation, bringing a new idea to the table," said P-Lo, who is a lifelong Warriors fan and has worked with various notable artists.
"For me, to be the first team to have a music company, or production company, it's kinda cool," Payton said.
