RTL, the European media conglomerate majority-owned by Bertelsmann, reported stable fiscal 2024 results, with group revenue at €6.3 billion, down 1.5% from 2023. Streaming revenue surged by 42% to €403 million, driven by subscriber growth in Germany, Hungary, and France. The CEO highlighted turning points in streaming services that will boost profits. Fremantle, RTL's content division, showed slight revenue decline but improved margins due to overhead cuts and strategic acquisitions. The company aims for €3 billion in revenue mid-term, emphasizing expansion through partnerships and acquisitions.
"We reached turning points in our streaming services and content production business. As a result, we expect to significantly increase our operating profits in the coming years," CEO Thomas Rabe said in a statement.
"Thanks to a significant reduction of overheads and the contribution from Asacha Media Group - acquired in 2024 - Fremantle reached a record result and significantly improved its Adjusted EBITA margin."
"Fremantle continues to target full-year revenue of €3 billion in the mid-term, including the acquisition of small and medium-sized production companies and partnerships with creative talent."
