Mercedes-Benz is altering its strategy after abandoning its ambitious goal of going all-electric by 2030. The automaker aims to address declining sales in China and a lackluster public response to its EQ electric vehicle designs. Consequently, it is prioritizing the development of new combustion engine vehicles and hybrids while still planning to introduce multiple new electric models, including refreshed E-Class and C-Class variants. The renewed approach encompasses an intensive product launch plan involving 19 combustion vehicles and 17 electric models by 2027, leveraging advanced technologies like steer-by-wire and AI integration.
"All of them come with a fully integrated tech stack and leverage the latest developments in AI. They will be packed with advanced technologies like the latest [automated driving assistance] systems and innovative tech features."
"That plan includes dozens of new or refreshed models to launch in the next two years, the German automaker announced at its annual Capital Market Day presentation."
