Hennig Otte, parliamentary commissioner for the armed forces, called on Defence Minister Boris Pistorius to order a comprehensive investigation into allegations of abuse at the 26th Parachute Regiment. Female soldiers reported a range of accusations including sexual abuse, right‑wing extremism and drug use. The regiment's missions have included evacuations of Germans and other foreign nationals from Sudan. General Carsten Breuer said the incidents had "shaken me deeply" and affirmed that sexualised violence, extremism, drug abuse and discrimination are not tolerated in the armed forces. The military says it has dismissed several soldiers, referred 16 cases to civil prosecutors, and prompted a closed‑door Bundestag discussion.
