"New York-based Voltpost has unveiled a new lamppost EV charger that can be installed in hours. Dubbed the Voltpost Air, the new Level 2 charger is much smaller than the company's previous model. It can be installed on almost any type of lamppost at a fraction of the cost of a traditional public Level 2 EV charger, which could supercharge the charging infrastructure in urban areas."
"According to the company, up to two chargers can be installed on a single post, providing up to 9.6 kilowatts of power to each connected EV. A smartphone app can be used to find chargers and pay for charging sessions. Compared to the first version of Voltpost's Level 2 charger, which is installed at the base of a street light, the Air is mounted at roughly 10 feet (3 meters) above the ground to protect against vandalism and weather."
Voltpost developed the Voltpost Air, a compact Level 2 EV charger designed to mount on existing lampposts and install in hours. The Air is significantly smaller than the company's first-generation unit and can be mounted about 10 feet above the ground to reduce vandalism and weather exposure. Up to two chargers can fit on a single post, delivering up to 9.6 kilowatts to each vehicle. A retractable cable prevents hazards on sidewalks and a smartphone app enables locating chargers and paying for sessions. Installation avoids sidewalk excavation and utility upgrades by using existing conduit, lowering cost and deployment time.
