A recent lawsuit claims Apple misrepresented iPhone 16’s AI capabilities, leading users to believe in features that were unavailable at launch in September 2024. The legal action, being pursued in Canada and mirrored in California, argues Apple executives released misleading advertisements while knowing the promised features would arrive late or not at all. TikTok lawyer Angela highlighted the issue, noting user dependence on Apple's claims that Siri would integrate across apps. Reports suggested frustrations regarding ongoing delays for significant updates, demanding accountability from Apple for the marketing of its anticipated AI advancements.
According to reports in the Vancouver Sun, Apple made 'misrepresentations' in its advertising of the iPhone 16, relating to the model's AI features.
Angela continued: 'So this is what Apple was advertising in conjunction with its iPhone 16 rollout... that Siri would be able to integrate across apps... the lawsuit alleges that Apple executives knew that these features weren't ready but that the company still pushed forth with these massive campaigns only to admit after millions of iPhone 16s had been sold, 'it's going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features'.
