Get accurate sunlight, health, and environmental UV data over LoRa with simple wiring and low-cost hardware for safer outdoor activities. Integrate an LTR390UV ultraviolet light sensor into your ESP32-based LoRa Meshtastic Node for UV index monitoring, sun safety tracking, and environmental UV measurements. Hardware"
"Wiring Connections: VIN -> 3.3V SCL -> PIN 42 SDA -> PIN 41 GND -> GND INT -> Optional GPIO (for interrupt operation) Meshtastic Settings Open Meshtastic App Go to Settings → Telemetry (Sensor) Toggle Enable Environment Metrics Press Save In conclusion, the LTR390UV adds a nice health and safety monitoring to your Meshtastic Node by tracking ultraviolet radiation levels."
The LTR390UV measures ultraviolet (UV) light and ambient brightness and uses I²C for easy microcontroller integration. The sensor is low-power, supports 3.3V systems such as ESP32 and nRF52840, and includes temperature compensation for stable readings. Wire VIN to 3.3V, SCL to pin 42, SDA to pin 41, GND to ground, and optionally connect INT to a GPIO for interrupts. Enable Environment Metrics in the Meshtastic app under Settings → Telemetry to collect sensor telemetry over LoRa. External mounting or a UV-transparent window is required for accurate UV measurements.
