Google is reaching out to Chromecast users to apologize for disruptions affecting some Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. Users reported issues starting over the weekend, receiving "Untrusted device" errors. Google confirmed it is aware and is working on a solution, which it will provide via the Nest Community page. A Redditor speculated that an expired certificate, which became invalid shortly before the issues began, is at the root of the problem. A community manager indicated they have already identified the issue's cause.
"We apologize for the issue and understand your frustration. We are working to roll out a fix as soon as possible and will share updates and guidance on the Nest Community page."
"Yesterday, a Google Nest Community Manager said that the team has 'identified the cause of the issue' and that it was working on a fix."
