"My brother-in-law showed his generous spirit by stopping... She said he was still in critical condition at a hospital. What makes this even more difficult is that my brother-in-law does not have insurance and is not eligible for any medical programs. He is the sole provider for his wife and their 1-year-old baby girl, both of whom depend on him."
"The doctors have told us that due to the severity of his injuries, (Paz) will not be able to work for at least one year while he recovers. This has left his family facing not only emotional distress but also overwhelming financial challenges."
Cesar Paz, 22, was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 50 near South Lake Tahoe on February 16 while assisting another driver with tire chains. The crash injured three people, including Paz and the driver he was helping, Daniel Tam. Paz sustained multiple broken bones and severe injuries, leaving him hospitalized in critical condition. Without insurance or eligibility for medical assistance programs, Paz faces overwhelming medical expenses while being unable to work for at least one year. As the sole provider for his wife and one-year-old daughter, his family launched a fundraiser seeking $7,000 for medical costs, which had raised $1,490 by Wednesday.
