Harrods apologizes to women who say they were abused by former owner Mohamed Al Fayed
Briefly

Michael Ward, managing director of Harrods, expressed profound regret, stating ‘We failed our colleagues and for that, we are deeply sorry,’ reflecting on the workplace culture under Mohamed Al Fayed.
Ward further commented, ‘It is clear Al Fayed presided over a toxic culture of secrecy, intimidation, fear of repercussion and sexual misconduct,’ highlighting the environment created during his ownership.
The ongoing legal situation is serious, as lawyers for the alleged victims have retained 37 women, indicating a growing list of those accusing Al Fayed of serious crimes.
Reflecting on the past, Ward stated, ‘This was a shameful period in the business' history,’ reiterating the efforts made today to distance the store from Al Fayed’s legacy.
