One of Los Angeles's Best Thai Restaurants Just Expanded to Santa Monica
"After nearly a year of development, chefs Wedchayan "Deau" Arpapornnopparat and Tongkamal "Joy" Yuon's acclaimed Thai restaurant, Holy Basil, is now open in Santa Monica. The restaurant's Westside outpost opened in late November along Santa Monica Boulevard with dishes such as chile chicken, steak topped with Thai basil chimichurri, and tom yum risotto. Yuon assembled a menu of non-alcoholic drinks like hibiscus agave oolong and dragonfruit rosemary to pair, with beer, wine, and sake joining the lineup soon."
"Holy Basil first opened in 2021 as a food stall in a Fashion District food hall serving Thai-style street food like pad see ew and gra pow, before expanding to Atwater Village in 2024. More recently, the Holy Basil team debuted a Thai barbecue concept, Yhing Yhang, at West Adams' Maydan Market, serving grilled chicken wings, grilled pork, and Thai Caesar salad. Currently, Holy Basil Santa Monica is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday to Sunday, with additional hours and takeout to come."
"Sherman Oaks' award-winning Daisy Margarita Bar has flipped into Daisy Merry-Rita Bar through January 4 with a menu of holiday cocktails that include a pine needle-tinged carbonated margarita (served out of a can, and over ice) and a gingerbread house margarita milk punch. The festive menu also includes a duck fat-washed Partridge and Pear Margarita and champurrado eggnog. Chef Diego Argoti and his pop-up, Estrano, head up the coast to Highly Likely Ojai for a dinner on December 13."
Holy Basil opened a Santa Monica location, offering chile chicken, steak with Thai basil chimichurri, and tom yum risotto. Tongkamal "Joy" Yuon created non-alcoholic pairings including hibiscus agave oolong and dragonfruit rosemary; beer, wine, and sake will be added. The restaurant is open 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, with expanded hours and takeout planned. Holy Basil began as a 2021 Fashion District food stall and expanded to Atwater Village in 2024; the team also launched Yhing Yhang, a Thai barbecue at Maydan Market.
