Chipotle Mexican Grill creates a high-protein menu
"Chipotle Mexican Grill is the latest restaurant chain to jump on the high-protein bandwagon, launching a new protein menu two days before Christmas. Six items ranging from 15 grams to a whopping 81 grams of protein will debut on Tuesday, Dec. 23. The items will be available for dine-in or can be ordered online, according to a news release from the Newport Beach-based company. All of the items feature Adobo Chicken."
"On Jan. 5, Chipotle will introduce three collaborations with fans that can be ordered through the Chipotle app or online. The biggest one will be New York Knicks guard Josh Hart's High Protein Burrito with 1,340 calories, 95 grams of protein and 14 grams of fiber. A body's need for protein varies by age, sex, weight and your level of activity. According to the Mayo Clinic, an average sedentary adult should consume 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight a day, or about 60 grams."
Chipotle launched a high-protein menu on Dec. 23 with six items containing 15 to 81 grams of protein. All items feature Adobo Chicken and include white or brown rice, black beans and fajita veggies. Items are offered for dine-in and online ordering. A High Protein Cup contains four ounces of Adobo Chicken. One bowl provides 14 grams of fiber. On Jan. 5 Chipotle will add three fan collaborations through the Chipotle app and online, including New York Knicks guard Josh Hart's High Protein Burrito (1,340 calories, 95 grams protein, 14 grams fiber). Protein needs vary by age, sex, weight and activity.
