"In Espetus' uniquely traditional atmosphere, a parade of meats is continuously offered and carved tableside by chefs, called 'Gauchos' in deference to churrasco's cowboy beginnings on the open plains of Brazil in the 1700s,"
"Fourteen signature cuts of steak, pork, chicken, lamb and shrimp are grilled over 100 percent natural mesquite-charcoal open flame, giving Espetus the authentic Gaucho taste other Bay Area churrascarias are missing."
"The Concord location has yet to post a menu, but a dinner at Espetus' other locations runs $75 and includes a dozen to 14 cuts of meat, grilled pineapple, appetizers, salads and side dishes. Children 5 and under eat for free, unless they're in large parties, and kids ages 6-11 enjoy half-price meals."
Espetus opened Dec. 22 at the Veranda mixed-use retail center in Concord at 2025 Diamond Blvd., Suite F100, joining other restaurants such as Dave & Buster's and Golden Corral. The operation began in San Francisco's Hayes Valley in 2003 with a second location in San Mateo in 2008. The specialty is churrasco—fire-grilled skewered meats including beef, chicken, sausage, pork, lamb and shrimp—carved tableside by gauchos in a parade of meats. Typical dinner at other locations costs about $75 and includes a dozen to 14 cuts, grilled pineapple, appetizers, salads, sides, a full salad bar, wine, Latin cocktails and pao de queijo. Hours are noon–9 p.m. daily.
