'We consulted food experts, including a registered dietitian, for the definitive guide to what goes where and why.'"

Pesto, especially when containing pine nuts, can develop mould that produces toxic mycotoxins and can be hard to see on green pesto. Salad cream and tartare sauce contain eggs and are best refrigerated. Manufacturers must include storage guidance by law, yet over a third of people reported they never check storage instructions or time limits.
