"There are no other restaurants like Cafe Jacqueline in San Francisco, or the Bay Area, and there will likely never be another like it,"
"Go witness it for yourself, before it vanishes, before it takes to the skies."
Cafe Jacqueline in North Beach has permanently closed after 46 years of service. The restaurant was opened in 1979 by chef-owner Jacqueline Margulis, who grew up in southern France and was known for hand-whisking savory and sweet soufflés in a green-and-pink, chandelier-lit dining room. Margulis, in her late 80s, temporarily closed in early 2024 after breaking her arm but continued operating until the recent closure. Compass listed the 1,000-square-foot business at 1454 Grant Ave. with an asking price of $361,000. The restaurant voicemail asks patrons not to request reservations and promises more information in the new year.
