Imitation crab offers a seafood substitute commonly seen in sushi. Numerous brands claim to mimic real crab, yet differences in flavor and texture are minimal. Seven brands were tested, revealing subtle differences with no significant distinction between the top-ranking and least favored options. The findings inform better choices for those seeking to buy imitation crab for home-prepared sushi or other culinary applications.
I sussed out the minor differences in flavor and texture of each imitation crab brand to rank them according to which was the best imitation of actual crab.
Out of the seven brands I tried for this ranking, the differences between each were truly very subtle and I didn't find a wide margin between my top and bottom choices.
