Director Edgar Wright is reportedly in negotiations to direct the remake of Barbarella, based on the French sci-fi comic. Sydney Sweeney is lined up to play the lead role, with Glen Powell set to star in Wright's The Running Man remake.
Wright's previous projects include Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Baby Driver. Despite having worked on Ant-Man for Marvel, he left due to creative differences. Sony is in talks with Jane Goldman and Honey Ross to write Barbarella's script.
