Sarah Paulson Tears Up Remembering Her 'Dear Friend' Diane Keaton
"I was incredibly close to her and this is a profoundly sad time for me,"
"I can't talk about it in any way that's articulate other than to say that for all you knew and loved about her as a performer, she was even more as a friend."
"I was the luckiest person in the world to have had her in my life the way that I did."
"She was the most generous, just playful, fun, alive performer, and really taught me the power of beats in a scene," Paulson recalled to in September. "I was so scared, and she really took me under her wing, and we've been really good friends ever since."
Sarah Paulson is processing the death of her friend Diane Keaton, who died at 79 from pneumonia. Paulson described the loss as profoundly sad and said Keaton was even more as a friend than as a performer. Paulson said she is not able to speak about Keaton’s legacy yet but emphasized that her dear friend was even more spectacular as a human being. Keaton played Paulson’s mother in the 1999 film The Other Sister and mentored her on the power of beats in a scene. Paulson recalled post-lockdown dinners, attending Keaton’s daughter’s wedding, and a long, affectionate friendship marked by playful teasing and mutual admiration.
