The Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) began eleven years ago after Walmart's proposal to Geena Davis, aiming to enhance representation in the media. In collaboration with the Geena Davis Institute, the festival emphasizes equitable representation both on and off camera. Geena Davis, a prominent figure at the festival as Chair, actively participates in events and engages warmly with attendees. Festival President Wendy Guerrero highlights Davis's leadership as instrumental in the festival's success and growth over the years, showcasing her passion for the event and the messages it represents.
"It was their idea to have a film festival that was based on broadening our representation, not only in front of the camera but also behind the camera," said Davis.
"She is a force, and it's very exciting for us to work so closely with her and bring her vision to life. She's attending events, getting involved, and going to the movies," says Festival President Wendy Guerrero.
