Panos Yiapanis, a renowned stylist, has spent over 25 years curating a vast archive of antique fashion pieces. In 2020, his collection suffered irreparable water damage, prompting him to document these affected items in a striking photographic series featuring models Rianne Van Rompaey and Joel Kemp. The collection, dating from 1850 to 1910, includes garments that have been creatively reimagined and presented alongside a plastic base for protection. This poignant project serves as Yiapanis' heartfelt goodbye to a storied past and showcases the intricate craftsmanship of vintage fashion before its loss.
The story is, Yiapanis says, "my way of saying goodbye" to these clothes.
Yiapanis chose to document them one last time before parting with them.
Reflecting the attention to detail and construction that time in history is known for, an overloaded aesthetic is taken apart at the seams.
