Luis de la Fuente, coach of Spain's national men's football team, testified in the trial of former RFEF president Luis Rubiales, denying any involvement in crisis talks related to Rubiales kissing player Jenni Hermoso. De la Fuente claimed he was unaware of any attempts to coerce Hermoso into saying the kiss was consensual. During the trial, female press officer Patricia Pérez described feeling pressured to change her account in a meeting with RFEF officials. Hermoso described the kiss as ruining a joyful occasion, emphasizing the ongoing controversy surrounding Rubiales' actions.
De la Fuente stated, 'After over 36 hours without sleeping, I was very tired. I was focused on resting, reading, watching films. I didn’t see anything.'
Referring to the alleged coercion of Hermoso, De la Fuente emphasized, 'I had a meeting with the president, the only meeting I took part in.'
The Spain women’s press officer described De la Fuente’s meeting as one where 'she had felt pressured' to change her account regarding the incident.
Hermoso remarked that the kiss 'ruined one of the happiest days of my life,' underlining the impact of Rubiales' actions.
