Going to the gym was too much effort, until I moved into one
"After a couple of months travelling where I didn't hold back on alcohol and carbs, I decided on radical action to get over my gym-phobia. I flew from France to Thailand, where I moved into a four-storey gym adjoined by 17 hotel rooms. I lived there for a week, taking as many classes, ice baths, saunas and scoops of protein powder as I could handle."
"A day living at Action Point looks something like this: wake up at 7.20am, grab a protein shake and drink it quickly before a 7.30am Morning Mobility (stretch and movement) class. Then it's up to the cafe, with its swimming pool and views across Phuket. For breakfast? Eggs, of course! Or a protein hotcake as heavy as a shot put. Cross training starts at 9am, while at 10.15am one floor up you can take power yoga."
Moving into a gym removes logistical friction and enables sustained, repeatable exercise and recovery. A four-storey facility in Phuket called Action Point adjoined 17 hotel rooms and remained open to the public. Daily life began with a 7.30am Morning Mobility class, fast protein shakes, high-protein breakfasts and a schedule of cross training, power yoga, personal training or one-on-one Muay Thai. Afternoons prioritized recovery through in-room massage, naps, ice baths and saunas. Evenings included yin yoga, singing bowls or meditation and an early 8pm bedtime. Three-times-weekly knowledge sessions covered mindset and nutrition to reinforce the routine.
