Walmart, in partnership with Alphabet's Wing, is expanding their drone delivery services to five new cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. Currently operating in northwest Arkansas and Dallas-Fort Worth, the partnership will increase the number of participating stores to over 100. The initiative aims to redefine retail convenience, with Walmart reporting more than 150,000 completed deliveries since the launch in 2021. Customers need to live within six miles of stores, and orders must meet weight restrictions to qualify for drone delivery, encompassing various product categories.
"As we look ahead, drone delivery will remain a key part of our commitment to redefining retail," said Greg Cathey, SVP, Walmart U.S. Transformation and Innovation.
"We're pushing the boundaries of convenience to better serve our customers, making shopping faster and easier than ever before."
