GE Vernova's Scott Strazik aims to rekindle the entrepreneurial zeal of the power company's former parent
Briefly

General Electric (GE) was established in 1892 and was known for its significant contributions to technology, including the jet engine and X-ray machines. However, mismanagement, particularly in its financial services sector, led to its decline and eventual split into three companies focused on aviation, healthcare, and energy. Scott Strazik, CEO of the energy spinoff GE Vernova, aims to maintain GE's legacy of innovation while fostering a more entrepreneurial approach in the company's new structure, as illustrated by the thoughtful naming of the company which embodies freshness and sustainability.
"At different times during its 130-year run, [GE] had been a leader in technological innovation and entrepreneurial drive," writes Puck cofounder William D. Cohan in his 2022 book Power Failure.
Scott Strazik, CEO of energy spinoff GE Vernova, says he is trying to lead the company by adopting some of the best parts of the GE legacy-its ambition and some its best talent-while embracing the freedoms of being a standalone company.
