Dutch firm Econowind secures 1M to harness the wind for deep-sea shipping - Silicon Canals

Econowind, a Dutch company specializing in wind-assisted ship propulsion, has secured €1M in funding from Invest International to advance its innovative VentoFoil XL project. This funding is complemented by an additional €2M from Regional Development Companies. The VentoFoil XL, inspired by aviation technology, aims to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in shipping by harnessing wind power. With existing partnerships with Damen Shipyards and major global shipping firms, Econowind is set to expand from coastal vessels to the deep-sea shipping market, addressing over 50,000 vessels worldwide.
