What will be the first tasks of EU parliament following the elections?
Briefly

The European Union goes to the polls from Thursday through to Sunday this week in elections in which right and far-right parties are widely expected to make gains.
One of the first decisions of the new assembly will be to elect the president of the parliament, a vote which requires an absolute majority.
MEPs will then take part in drafting EU laws, debating, amending, and negotiating proposals made by the commission and the EU Council.
