Video. Polar bear sisters Skadi and Kaja settle into Tallinn Zoo
Briefly

Skadi and Kaja, two polar bear sisters from Rostock Zoo, Germany, have been relocated to Tallinn Zoo, Estonia. Born in November 2021, they previously lived with their mother and, like wild polar bears, are now venturing into independence around the typical age of two to three years. Their move was strategically planned to minimize stress, allowing them to maintain eye contact during transportation. They now join two other young females, Inuk and Imaq, as part of the zoo's efforts aligned with the European Endangered Species Program, which coordinates conservation initiatives among zoos to safeguard these endangered animals.
The sisters, born at Rostock Zoo in November 2021, are now part of Tallinn Zoo's growing polar bear population, aimed at enhancing conservation efforts.
Their relocation to Estonia is part of the European Endangered Species Program, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among zoos to protect endangered species.
