Tunisia reactivates its collaboration with the EU in the fight against irregular immigration

Tunisia has reactivated its coastguard's activities as a border agent of the European Union (EU) two months after tensions with Brussels led to a decrease in immigration control.
Over the last eight years, Tunisian authorities used to intercept an average of 48% of all migrants leaving the country's coasts. But in July, when the Memorandum of Understanding between Saied and the EU was signed, the figure was around only 15%.
