EU pledges 7.4 billion in aid to Egypt as it seeks to curb migration

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi signed declarations to upgrade the relationship during a summit with EU leaders in Cairo.
The proposed funding consists of 5 billion euros in concessional loans, 1.8 billion euros in investments, and 600 million euros in grants, including 200 million for migration management.
