"More needs to be done," said Johan Forssell, who emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing migration regulations with increased funding for return migration and fraud prevention.
The proposed budget will allocate 513 million kronor for migration restrictions in 2025, with significant increases planned for 2026 and 2027 to tackle misuse.
From 2026, immigrants who voluntarily return to their home countries could receive up to 350,000 kronor, a substantial increase from the current maximum.
The restructured return migration scheme aims to support refugees and others under specific protective statuses, while also emphasizing the need for strict checks on foreigners.
