Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares confirmed Gonzalez’s asylum request, stating that the Spanish government is dedicated to safeguarding the political rights of Venezuelans in distress.
In response to escalating tensions, Venezuela has revoked Brazil's authorization to manage Argentinian interests, further complicating diplomatic relations amid widespread protests against the election results.
Following the July 28 presidential elections, which the opposition describes as fraudulent, at least 27 people were killed in protests, illustrating the deepening crisis in Venezuela.
