President Trump has threatened to implement a 50% tariff on imports from the European Union, citing stagnation in trade discussions as the reason. He previously indicated that Apple must manufacture iPhones in the U.S. or face a minimum 25% tariff. Although initial tariffs of 20% were discussed earlier with the EU, ongoing negotiations had faltered. With rising concerns over economic repercussions and market fluctuations, Trump had previously eased tariff threats but has now escalated tensions with the EU regarding unfair trade practices and barriers.
Therefore, I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025.
Trump has long complained about EU trade barriers, its VAT taxes, monetary policy, and lawsuits against American companies.
