"The warning for counties Cork, Kerry, Galway and Mayo came into effect at midnight last night and will expire at midnight tonight, posing the threat of localised flooding and hazardous travelling conditions."
"Also predicted by the national forecaster is a "north-west to south-east split" in the expected weather conditions for this week, with the northwest set to receive "wetter than average", unsettled weather while the southeast will experience "drier than average", more pleasant conditions."
"Today is forecast to be dull and windy with rain in most areas and temperatures of between 9C and 12C, dropping as low as 3C in the evening which is set to be "wet and blustery", according to Met Éireann."

Ireland will experience a northwest-southeast weather split this week, with the northwest receiving wetter than average unsettled weather while the southeast enjoys drier, more pleasant conditions. Today will be dull and windy with rain across most areas, temperatures between 9-12°C, dropping to 3°C in the evening. Tomorrow begins mostly dry with showers developing from the northwest, moving southeastwards. Tuesday will be dry with sunny spells and temperatures 9-12°C, cooling to 1-5°C at night with possible ice formation. Wednesday remains largely dry with sunny spells and highs of 13°C, while Thursday sees wet conditions returning with eastward-moving rain and temperatures of 8-11°C.
