The Teen Fact-Checking Network (TFCN), part of MediaWise's initiative, is expanding across Europe to combat the misinformation crisis. With leadership from Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa), the program aims to empower youth through fact-checking and media literacy. The initiative, launched in September 2024, unites various organizations across Europe to help students learn to discern facts from falsehoods. Supporting active peer-to-peer engagement, TFCN encourages young people to develop essential digital skills while addressing misinformation across borders, reflecting a commitment to fostering informed global citizens.
"Empowering teens with media literacy equips them with the skills to discern fact from fiction online, helping their overall digital wellbeing," said MediaWise deputy director Brittani Kollar.
"Disinformation crosses borders - as does the desire of young people to stand up for facts and media literacy," said Teresa Dapp, Head of Fact-Checking Editorial at dpa.
